In 1984 we set out to change the world of post-surgery lingerie, when bras were designed purely on function with little thought about how the bra made the wearer feel. 40 years later, thanks to our expert design team and your feedback, we have created a post-surgery lingerie collection that empowers women to feel like themselves again, post-surgery.
With you in-mind, our Design Team carefully considers each vital component to ensure that your post-surgery bra is not only functional but you feel comfortable and confident. Our bras aren't just styles that have been adapted, they have been designed and created specifically to be worn after breast surgery.
The design process...
After your surgery you may find that you can no longer wear the bras you used to and now need a post-surgery bra. Whilst this can feel daunting at first, we aim to create a post-surgery collection that offers you a choice of styles, just as you would of had before your surgery. It is important to us that when you wear a Nicola Jane bra you can look in the mirror and feel confident and feminine again.
As part of our design process, we attend industry trade shows and research upcoming design and colour trends, so that we can incorporate these into the Nicola Jane range. Stylish on-trend design detailing is also cleverly featured throughout the collection to discreetly disguise any high scarring or indentation.
The differences in a post-surgery bra...
Higher underarms combined with super-soft material: after surgery this area can be a particularly sensitive, especially you have scarring or if you have had your lymph nodes removed.
Deeper centre and higher necklines: this can help the bra stay close to your chest wall, as well as disguising any scarring or indentation. Camisole bras also help to discreet increase coverage should you need it.
Pocketed: to discreetly and securely hold a breast form. If you don’t need a pocket, this will just fall back and act as an additional lining.
Wirefree: the structure of our wirefree bras is cleverly designed to give you the same cup shape and support but with the additional comfort of no underwires.

At Nicola Jane we aren't 'fast fashion', all our bras (and swimwear) are designed to last.
We're determined to do everything we can to minimise the impact we make on our beautiful planet, to safeguard it for future generations to enjoy. As part of our design process for all styles, we aim to reduce packaging and increase the use of sustainable materials. This year you will see materials such as organic cotton being introduced into Nicola Jane lingerie style. We also continue to invest in researching ethical retail practices.
