FAQ - How to sew a pocket into your bra
If you are looking to convert your old bras into a pocketed bra, our sew in pockets are the perfect solution! Our handy 100% cotton sew in pockets can convert non-pocketed bras to hold a breast form securely all-day-long. Please note that sew in pockets are only designed to be used with bras that will hold the whole breast form in the cup such as a full cup bra style. Balconette, half-cup and cut away bras will not cover the whole breast form and therefore will not be suitable.
Follow the steps below to correctly sew in your pocket:
- 1) Things you will need: Your bra, your Nicola Jane pocket, pins, a needle and thread and your breast form
-
-
- 2) Lay your bra on a flat surface with the inside of the bra facing upwards.
-
- 3) Place the pocket over the cup on the side you need to pocket, ensuring that it covers the entire cup and that the long end lies towards the underarm.
-
- 4) If the pocket is too big, fold in the excess material to create a smaller pocket. Fold inwards so that it sits between the pocket and the bra cup.
-
- 5) Pin around the outside edge of the pocket to keep it in place. If the upper cup edge on the bra is elasticated you will need to stretch the cup edge as you pin it.
-
- 6) Using your needle and thread, carefully sew around the outer edge of the pocket.
-
- 7) Once the pocket is secure you can insert/remove your breast form through the opening at the centre.
-
- 8) If you prefer a smaller opening for the breast form, sew a small tack stitch part way up to reduce the opening size. Ensure you remove the breast form before pinning or stitching.
-
- Please note: these are sold individually and can be used on the left or right side.
