When you have undergone breast surgery, it is important to have a comfortable bra to wear straight away! Your arm movement may be slightly restricted and stiff, especially if you have had lymph nodes removed. We suggest a front fastening bra with easy front closure, so you won’t need to struggle with a rear fastener. With a choice of zipper, popper, buttons or hook and eye fastening, there is a style to suit you.
You will be given a lightweight temporary breast form called a ‘softie’ to wear for 6-8 weeks, until you have healed and fitted with a permanent silicone breast form.
Don’t be disappointed if your normal bra size feels tight immediately after surgery, as you will most likely be swollen from the procedure. We suggest going up a band size, just to give you that little bit of extra room and to make you feel more comfortable in your new bra. The swelling should settle down after a few weeks and you will be able to wear your pre-op size.
