Rediscover Confidence With Nicola Jane

After surgery, it’s completely normal to experience a range of emotions, including a loss of confidence. At Nicola Jane, we understand just how important it is to find a bra that fits well and makes you feel supported, comfortable and empowered.

You may be feeling nervous or uncertain about going to a fitting, especially as you adjust to your new body. Our female-led team of highly experienced, compassionate and caring fitters are here to help you every step of the way. We will guide you through the process with understanding and sensitivity, ensuring you feel comfortable and at ease.

Our promise is to make your fitting experience as relaxed and reassuring as possible. With over 40 different locations and a virtual fitting option, we are proud to offer accessible care and support wherever you are.

As this is a mobile service, our Breast Care Specialists are not able to bring every bra in every size or every type of breast form. However, they carry a carefully selected range to help you find the best possible fit and shape for your needs.

To help calm any nerves, we’ve created a detailed breakdown of what to expect during your fitting appointment. We hope it gives you the confidence to take this next step on your journey.

What happens during the fitting appointment?

Our goal during a fitting appointment is to make you feel at ease and comfortable. You will be warmly welcomed by your local Breast Care Specialist and she will take the time to talk to you about your surgery type, any areas of concern, the styles of bras you like and your lifestyle. The specialist will then accurately assess your bra size and talk you through suitable products that can be ordered and tried on at home.

The fitting gives you the confidence and knowledge needed to ensure that the size ordered will be right for you. Our specialists are all highly trained and experienced and can identify the most suitable styles and products, understanding that everyone’s surgery is different and every body is unique. Different brands can fit differently and the specialist will explain which size and style is likely to offer the best fit for you.

Appointments usually last between 30 to 45 minutes. If you have any concerns or worries beforehand, you can contact your local fitter directly, her details will be available on the booking page. Alternatively, you can call our customer service team for any general information about our fitting services.

Do I need to prepare anything before my fitting?

You don’t need to prepare anything specific before your fitting, just bring yourself. If possible, try to wear a bra so we can see what you've been wearing and how we might improve the fit for you. If you currently wear a breast form, please bring that along as well. You're very welcome to bring a friend or family member with you for support if you’d like.

We usually recommend waiting 6–8 weeks after surgery before coming for your first bra fitting, to allow time for healing and for any swelling to subside. However, you're also welcome to visit us before your surgery if you'd like to discuss post-surgery bras or comfortable options to wear immediately after your procedure.

Everyone’s recovery is different, but if you're still experiencing tenderness or have sore areas under your arm or on your chest wall, we recommend waiting until you're fully healed. This helps avoid discomfort during the fitting and allows for a more accurate sizing, as your body may still change during recovery.

Some of our bras feature thin-set straps or front-fastening styles that can accommodate drains, pacemakers or ports. If you have any special requirements, please let us know on your booking form or speak with your specialist before your appointment - we’re here to help.

What products are available during the fitting?

As our Breast Care Specialists provide a mobile service, they are unable to bring every size and style of bra or breast form with them. However, they do carry a selection of samples to show and can talk you through the most suitable options available in our catalogue for you to order. The sample breast forms include a beaded sample, swim form samples, and a traditional silicone breast form sample.

Once your bra size is confirmed during the fitting, ordering online becomes much easier, as each breast form comes with a simple size guide to help you choose the correct match.

During your appointment, the specialist will use a particular style of bra to determine the best size for you. They have sample bras in various sizes from our current catalogue so you can see and feel the styles you’re interested in. Please note that the sample bra may not be in your exact size, but it will help give you a clear idea of the fit and design.

Will I need any follow-up appointments?

We would love to see you every six months, especially in the early stages after surgery, to make sure everything is still fitting well. At a minimum, we recommend having a bra refit once a year.

Breast forms typically last between two to four years, but if your size changes, you may need a new form sooner. If your bras are not fitting correctly, for example if the non-surgery side is pulling across and causing the breast form to shift, this may be a sign that you need a different cup size. Over time, breast forms can lose their shape and become slightly compressed, bras may become baggy or lose their elasticity.

You are always welcome to come and visit us whenever you feel the need. We also offer virtual fittings, which are a convenient way to check your fit or reconnect with your specialist. We truly value the special relationship that develops between you and your fitter, built on trust, care and understanding.

If you would like to book a follow-up, you can book online or call/email your local Breast Care Specialist. We encourage you to stay in touch so we can make sure you are completely happy and confident with your fit.
